Exhibition Opening: Living with Art by Betsy Gill
BETSY GILL’S “LIVING WITH ART” SOLO EXHIBITION OPENS AT THE ATELIER SACRAMENTO, CA — After decades of creating in the Rocky Mountains, abstract painter and found-art sculptor Betsy Gill has traded snow-filled winters for the vibrant creative energy of Northern California.

Resident Artist – Izayjah Mckinney
Izayjah is an emerging visual artist whose work centers on the Afrocentric experience, cultural memory, and personal resilience. Through portraiture and expressive mark-making, he explores the dualities of human nature—light and dark, strength and vulnerability—to bridge personal reflection with broader surreal narratives.

Resident Artist – Liz Awesome
Liz is a conceptual artist whose practice, “a love letter to the future,” is rooted in the “here and now” of Sacramento. Using digital pentimento, charcoal, and stained textiles, he connects materials like post-consumer trash and found objects to community needs.

Artist Resident – Kenneth Jordan Burkey
Kenneth Jordan Burkey brings a research-heavy approach to his residency at The Atelier, treating his artistic practice as a form of cultural exploration. Drawing on a family legacy of storytelling—including an uncle whose work contributed to Disney classics like Cinderella and Bambi—Kenneth explores the power of images to carry history and emotion across generations.

Artist Resident – Betsy Gill
Betsy is an abstract painter and creator of hand-bound art who recently relocated to Sacramento from Colorado in search of new creative adventures. Her practice focuses on the intersection of rhythmic abstract expression, found objects, and articulating creative grounding, spirituality, and peacefulness.

Artist Resident – Jaime Luna
Jaime is a painter whose work functions as a dialogue between representation and abstraction. He treats the canvas as a site for intuitive experimentation, building and removing layers of oil paint until the emotional sentiment of his subject is revealed. Recently transitioning from a career in analytics to full-time artistry, Jaime is dedicated to the practice of making sincere art that reflects our shared human experience.
