Resident Artist
Izayjah Mckinney
Izayjah is an emerging visual artist whose work centers on the Afrocentric experience, cultural memory, and personal resilience. Through portraiture and expressive mark-making, he explores the dualities of human nature—light and dark, strength and vulnerability—to bridge personal reflection with broader surreal narratives.
He joins The Atelier to use his studio as a sanctuary for storytelling and transformative healing.

Artistic Process:
Jaime utilizes a repetitive ritual of applying and scraping paint to find a gestural roughness, while keeping his skills sharp through en plein air studies and digital visual development.
Conceptual Theme:
His work examines human dualities—such as grace and sorrow—while connecting individual narratives to a collective “innerstanding” of shared experiences.
Current Focus:
He is currently evolving his practice into immersive works and extending his narratives into public spaces through local chalk murals.
