Art/Learn/Play at the Atelier
Visual Literacy Meets Creative Expression
The Art, Learn, Play program bridges visual discovery with open-ended creative play by pairing interactive gallery exploration with extended studio time. The experience emphasises quality, inquiry based engagement for all students (field trips + homeschool), youth organizations, social clubs, corporate teams, and everyone else.
How the Program Works
Every three-hour session balances visual literacy, critical thinking, and creative freedom through a simple two-part framework:
Part 1: The Story (Interactive Art Conversations ~ 1 Hour)
Held directly in our gallery alongside work from exhibiting and local professional artists, participants learn how to “read” art by using slow-looking techniques. Through open-ended questions, gallery games, and inquiry based play, explore contemporary artists, materials, and styles. The focus is on building critical thinking, social-emotional learning, and respecting different viewpoints so students learn to trust their own perspective.
Part 2: The Studio (Creative Play & Exploration ~ 2 Hours)
Participants transition into the studio for open-ended, hands-on creation. Inspired by what was discovered in the gallery, participants have unlimited access to professional grade materials to express their ideas and takeaways in their own artistic style.

The Atelier Difference
Professional Pathways
We believe art work is real work. By engaging with local professional Artists and working in a real studio environment, guests see how the visual arts and associated fields are viable career paths and encourage them to value their own physical labor.
Social-Emotional Growth
Our curriculum is designed to help develop social-emotional skills through Creative Play. We use gallery games and group discussions to foster connection, proving that art is a community experience, not just a solitary one.
Inspiring Spaces & Premium Tools
Whether your group is in our Play Studio or Main Studio (depending on size and age), they’ll have access to top-tier equipment and supplies. We treat every student like a real artist from day one.
Process Over Product
We celebrate the Creative Process instead of the end product. We teach that working through the struggle is where the Art happens, helping them build resilience and confidence in their creative style.
