Resident Artist
Jaime is a painter whose work functions as a dialogue between representation and abstraction. He treats the canvas as a site for intuitive experimentation, building and removing layers of oil paint until the emotional sentiment of his subject is revealed. Recently transitioning from a career in analytics to full-time artistry, Jaime is dedicated to the practice of making sincere art that reflects our shared human experience.
He joins The Atelier to engage with a creative community and share his progress in making sincere, introspective art.
Jaime utilizes a repetitive ritual of applying and scraping paint to find a gestural roughness, while keeping his skills sharp through en plein air studies and digital visual development.
His work investigates the relationship between the self and the other, often letting crude, unruly marks develop naturally into “tamed” figurative pieces.
He is currently developing “Groundwork,” a body of work established over years of artistic development that features introspective and reflective storytelling.
