Toddler Art Play at the Play Atelier
Delight in the Joy of Creative Play
At The Play Atelier, we believe that for a toddler, the “art” is in the doing. Our Toddler Art Play sessions are designed as Sensory Happenings—invitations to explore high-quality materials without the pressure of a finished product. Located in Midtown Sacramento, we provide a professional studio environment where your child can squish, paint, and play their way to new discoveries.
What is Our Toddler Art Play?
A Toddler Art Happening is a joyful invitation to creative play and sensory exploration. Instead of a rigid craft, we provide open-ended prompts—like squishy clay or vibrant paints—and let your child’s wonder lead the way. In our studio, “the mess” is the masterpiece.
With no “correct” result, your little artist is free to explore at their own pace and build confidence through pure discovery.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: How should we dress for class? Will it get messy?
A: We encourage full sensory exploration, so things can get a little colorful! While we use high-quality washable materials, and have aprons available for use, we recommend comfortable “play clothes” for both your child and yourself. Our goal is for you to feel free to engage with the materials without worrying about your clothing.
Q: May I bring a younger sibling who isn't enrolled?
A: Infants in arms or carriers are always welcome to join you at no extra cost. However, to maintain a safe environment and ensure there is ample space for every student to move freely, siblings who are mobile (crawling or walking) must be enrolled to participate.
Q: Is it safe if my child puts materials in their mouth?
A: Your child’s safety is our highest priority. We strictly use age-appropriate, non-toxic art supplies. We understand that oral exploration is a natural part of development at this age; if it happens, you can rest assured that the materials are safe.
Q: Do I need to teach or instruct my child during the class?
A: Not at all, our program is child led. Your role is to support their creativity and co-create. when appropriate. Our Educators will introduce the activities, and then students are able to freely create and (maybe even teach you something) while you bond with them.
