Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Whether you’re a professional artist looking for a new residency, a parent seeking a creative outlet for your child, or a neighbor curious about our Midtown grand opening, we have answers. At The Atelier, we believe in transparency and accessibility. Below, you’ll find answers to common FAQs and everything you need to know about our classes, our artist-centric gallery model, and our professional workspaces.
General & Location FAQ
Q. Where is The Atelier located?
A. We are located at 2118 19th Street in Midtown Sacramento. Our new home is a light-filled, industrial-chic space designed to be a central hub for the local arts community.
Q. When is the Grand Opening?
A. We are currently finalizing our studio build-out at the 19th Street location. Join our waitlist to be the first to receive our official launch date and an invitation to our Grand Opening Gala.
Q. Is there a cost to join the waitlist?
A. No. Joining the waitlist is free and ensures you will be contacted when a class space opens up.
Art Classes FAQ
Q. Do I need to bring my own supplies?
A. For all of our Toddler Art Play, Homeschool Art Club, and Art Happenings, we provide all the necessary materials. For our Creative Coworking, Artist Resident Studios, and Art Happenings: Pro Series sessions, we do not provide supplies (some 2D art kits are available for purchase).
Q. What is the capacity for classes?
A. To ensure a high-quality, intentional experience, we limit our class sizes. For example, our Preschool Art Play classes are limited to 10 tiny artists per session to ensure every child has the resources they need.
Q. What skill levels and ages are the classes for?
A. We believe art is for everyone. We offer age-specific programming ranging from Art Play (5 & Under) to our Homeschool Art Club (1st-8th). Our Adult Art Classes are designed for all skill levels, from total beginners looking for creative play to experienced artists looking to sharpen specific techniques.
Gallery & Art Sales FAQ
Q. Is The Atelier a traditional art gallery?
A. While we host professional exhibitions, we are a hybrid space. We combine a high-end contemporary art gallery with active resident artist studios and educational workshops.
Q. Who can exhibit and sell work in the gallery?
A. Exhibition and sales opportunities are an exclusive benefit for our Resident & Member Artists. This ensures our gallery remains a dedicated showcase for the creators who call our studio home.
Q. Can I apply to show my work at The Atelier?
A. Our exhibitions are generally reserved for our studio members and residents but join the email because we may have a call for art from time to time.
Workspaces & Studios FAQ
Q. What is the difference between a Residency and Coworking?
A. Anyone can join and become a Creative Co-Working member and have flexible access to our shared communal spaces and amenities. Residents must apply and be selected for a dedicated, permanent physical studio space and exhibition opportunities.
Q. Do coworking members get 24/7 access?
A. 24/7 access is reserved for our Resident Artists. Coworking members have access to the space during our standard business and studio hours.
Q. Do you allow "messy" media in the coworking area?
A. Yes! Our coworking area is designed for “low-impact” creative work (digital, sketching, painting, light crafting, and more). Our large roll up door makes us a great location for tackling larger scale projects as well.
